The Acting Minister for Environment, Science and Technology (MEST), Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has officially inaugurated a new 21-member Governing Board for the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research(CSIR), charging them to provide strategic direction in harnessing science, technology and innovation for Ghana’s socio-economic transformation.
The inauguration was held on Wednesday August 20, 2025 at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology. In his remarks, the Minister congratulated the newly constituted board on their appointments, noting that their selection reflects the confidence of His Excellency the President in their ability to provide strategic direction for advancing research on Ghana’s natural resources.
Chaired by Prof. Mark A. Taylor, the Council members include Mr. George Owusu-Ansah Amoah; Prof. Paul Bosu (Director –General, CSIR); Ing.Dr Shadrack Kwadwo Amponsah; Ing.Prof. Emmanuel Kwame Appiah-Adjei; Prof. Samuel Boakye Dampare; Mr. Seidu Al-Hassan; Mr. William Agyei-Manu; Prof. George Obeng Adjei, and Prof. Mike Y. Osei-Atweneboana.
The others are Mr. Richard Tweneboah-Kodua; Madam Suweibatu Adam; Prof. Augustine Ocloo; Mr. Alexander Bogney Bewong; Mr. Kwasi Etu-Bonde; Dr. Anastasia Yirenkyi Michaelina; Mr. Kennedy Ewuntomah; Mr Samuel Adu-Gyamfi; Mr. Stephen Djaba; Mr. Eric Keyman Defor; and Madam Mary Nsiah-Asare.
Speaking on behalf of the chair, Prof. George Obeng Adjei thanked President John Dramani Mahama for appointing the Board and urged members to commit fully to achieving the institution’s goals.
“We are mindful of the onerous responsibility that has been reposed in us and the trust that this function requires, so we say that we will commit to discharge the duties entrusted us to the best of our ability in full humility, mindful of the strategic position that the institution has,” he added.
