Malaysian Palm Oil Council Technical Seminar in Accra Strengthens Malaysia-Ghana Collaboration in Palm Oil Sector
The Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), with the support of the High Commission of Malaysia in Accra and in collaboration with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) of Ghana, successfully organised the MPO Technical Seminar today, bringing together key stakeholders from across Ghana's palm oil and food industry value chain.
The seminar brought together policymakers, manufacturers, refiners, members of the HORECA sector, researchers, and the media to exchange knowledge and explore opportunities in the industry. In his opening remarks, the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of Malaysia underscored the importance of collaboration and knowledge‑sharing in navigating an increasingly dynamic global environment.
He highlighted the need for resilient supply chains, adaptability, and sustained cooperation to support industry growth and long‑term economic value.
The High Commission of Malaysia expressed its strong support for the initiative by MPOC and acknowledged the valuable partnership with CSIR Ghana, under the leadership of its Director‑General, Professor Paul Pinnock Bosu, as co‑host of the seminar and with the Director of the CSIR-Oil Palm Research Institute, Dr. Isaac Danso, as the lead implementer of the agreement that has been signed between CSIR Ghana and MPOC.
MPOC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ghana's industry development through continued technical engagement, knowledge sharing, and collaboration with research institutions such as CSIR-Oil Palm Research Institute. This includes promoting evidence‑based understanding of palm oil, enhancing processing capabilities, and identifying opportunities for innovation and value‑added product development within the Ghanaian market.The Chargé d'Affaires noted that Malaysia and Ghana continue to enjoy a longstanding and warm bilateral relationship, supported by growing economic cooperation.
He emphasized that the palm oil sector remains a key pillar of Malaysia's global trade and offers significant potential for expanded collaboration with Ghana, particularly in food manufacturing and the hospitality industry. The High Commission expressed confidence that the seminar would contribute to enhancing understanding of Malaysian palm oil, while fostering stronger partnerships and supporting sustainable industry practices in Ghana.The event reaffirmed the shared commitment of MPOC, the High Commission of Malaysia, and CSIR Ghana to strengthening trade linkages, promoting innovation, and building lasting partnerships between Malaysia and Ghana.
