COTVET SUPPORTS CSIR TO TRANSFER MODERN PLANT EXTRACTION : The relevance of science research and technology to national development cannot be taken lightly.   There is a general consensus that science research is paramount to promoting environmental sustainability, wealth creation, better human health, food security and overall good governance.

The Director-General of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Dr Victor Agyeman, has spoken against the notion that many of the country’s research findings are gathering dust on shelves.While it is the generally held belief that development efforts are being held back by the lack of appreciation for the work done by the country’s research institutions, Dr Agyeman said the lack of connection between research and development was due to the weaknesses of the private sector.

Management members of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) on Monday paid a courtesy call on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), to discuss areas where they could collaborate.

The CSIR Crops Research Institute (CSIR-CRI) Kumasi held its annual In-House Review, from 9th- 12th March 2015 at the institute’s conference room, Fumesua Kumasi. The main objective of this exercise is to provide a platform for researchers to showcase their achievement so far with regards to set targets in research activities and to present plan of activities for the year.

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is pushing for greater commercialisation for its agricultural products and technologies, to impact on production levels of farmers and agro processors in the country and beyond.

Dr. George Owusu Essegbey, Director of CSIR Science and Technology Policy Research Institute (STEPRI), has said that the institute is concerned with the application of Science and Technology to address development challenges in Agriculture, Industry and the Environment.
